Valley of Flowers "Foolon ki Ghati" is one of the most famous monsoon trek located in Uttarakhand, Himalayas. Best time to visit here in July to August. This valley was declared as National Park in 1982 and is famous for its rich flora and fauna, which includes a variety of colorful flowers along with rare and endangered species.
This whole vibrant valley is a combination of panoramic mountain ranges, lush green meadows, colorful flowers and clouds which all together make it the best destinations for nature lovers, photographers and Botanists. There are so many fairy tales associated with this valley and the most common of them is falling unconscious from the scents of flowers. Valley of Flowers trek starts from the pilgrimage trail of Govind Ghat, Uttarakhand and night stay for all the days will be in Lodge or Homestays as settlement and grazing is not allowed in this Valley. So the best place nearby to stay is Ghangharia.

- Balance : As well said a balanced mind and body gives out best in every condition and that too works in Himalayan treks as well.
- Legs Strength : Body and Legs Strength is required to carry body weight as well as the backpack while trekking in uneven multi terrains. Generally, a good strength on legs works out good in any Trek. One can gain legs strength by doing simple Squats.
- Muscle Flexibility : While trekking in Trans Himalayan region with a flexible body one can easily achieve full range of movement and this can be really helpful for trekkers as well as trek leads. A good flexible will be an advantage while walking on trails, climbing and river crossing etc. Flexibility can be achieved by simple stretching, yoga etc.
- Cardiovascular Endurance : Cardiovascular endurance is defined as the ability of lungs and heart to transmit oxygen to the body muscles. All Himalayan treks are basically ascending descending the slopes and for this trekkers should be having a good cardiovascular endurance. Anyone planning for a Himalayan trek can attain this capacity by doing any cardio exercise like running, swimming, cycling etc.
Day 1: Pickup at Haridwar and drive to Joshimath
- Early morning(7AM) Pickup from Haridwar and arrival at Joshimath by evening.
- 290 Km Journey.
- 10 hour drive via Devprayag
- Nearby attractions: Nav Durga and Narsingh Temple.
- Accommodation and food in Hotel.
On Day 1 reach Haridwar by early morning 7 am have your morning breakfast. Afterwards take a cab for Joshimath. It will be 10 hour/290 Km journey through beautiful valleys & hills on the way via Rudraprayag , Devprayag and Karnprayag. You will also get a chance to see confluence Mandakini & Alaknanda river at Devprayag. You will reach Joshimath by evening, night stay will be local hotels and guest house at Joshimath.
Day 2: Drive till Govindghat and trek to Ghangharia
- 6000 ft to 9200 ft
- 25 Kms drive till Govindghat.
- 5 hrs trek.

After having early morning breakfast, we will take a cab a drive to Govindghat, 22 Km away from Joshimath. Govindghat is famous pilgrimage center of Sikh community as it is nearest town to famous Hemkund Sahib gurudwara & lake - An alpine lake situated at the altitude of 14250 ft. Every year thousands of pilgrims comes to do Hemkund Sahib Yatra. We will start trekking on 14 Km trek from Govindghat to Ghangharia, also known as ?Govind Dham?. Govind Dham is basically base camp for Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib trek. We will stay here for night at local hotels.
Day 3: Ghangaria to Hemkund Lake and Gurudwara and back to Ghangharia

- 10 Km Trek.
- 7 Hours duration.

Next day early in the morning after having breakfast we start our 7 Km trek, or you can call it Hemkund Sahib Yatra towards Hemkund Sahib Lake/Gurudwara. Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is considered as world?s highest Gurudwara situated at the altitude of 14,200 ft. It will take at least 3 hours to reach Hemkund Sahib Lake. After spending some time at Gurudwara and enjoying the serene view at Hemkund Sahib lake we will return to our hotels at Ghangharia.
Day 4: Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers and back to Ghangaria
- 11,350 ft to 12,800 ft.
- 5 Km Trek.
- 4 Hours Duration.
- Accommodation and food in Lodge.
On Day 4 we will leave our hotel early in the morning at 6 am to give ourselves enough time to spend to enjoy the famous world heritage site of Valley of Flowers. Today?s trail of 5 Km will take you to nature?s botanical garden full of exotic flowers. Whole valley is filled with flowers of numerous color scattered everywhere on the other side snow clad mountains, moving clouds and gliding river crossing through valley is such an amazing experience. As overnight stay and camping is not allowed in the valley so will return to Ghangaria from same path and will reach at our hotels by evening.
Day 5: Ghangaria to Joshimath
- 25 Kms drive till Govindghat.
- 5 hrs trek.
- 5 Hours Duration.
- Nearby sightseeing and Badrinath visit

On Day 5 we will trek back to Govindghat, which is a 14 Km/5 Hours trek. After reaching we drive back to Joshimath and stay overnight at local hotels/guest house.
Day 6: Joshimath to Haridwar
- Breakfast in Joshimath
- 290 Km Journey
- 10 hour drive
- Will reach Haridwar by 7 PM
We will have our breakfast at hotel and a cab will be booked to return Haridwar which is 290 km journey taking up to 10 hours at least. We will reach Haridwar by evening afterwards trekkers can catch train or plan further travel accordingly.
